Saline Solution Recipe:

1/2 Teaspoon of Salt (Iodine-Free)

1 cup of DISTILLED water

Steps

Fill nasal syringe

Lean child forward into the sink so that mucus can fall into the sink.

Tilt head slightly to the opposite direction you will be putting the syringe up to.

* do not tilt the head too much so that the saline do not go into the ear canal.

Put syringe up to nostril of choice and create a seal with the nostril and the syringe.

Push on the syringe with just the right amount of pressure to push the mucus out the opposite nostril.

*Disclaimer: the person getting the nasal rinse should not have an ear infection at the time of the nasal wash.

*If you have never used a nasal rinse before, I would strongly suggest practicing on yourself before performing it on anyone else.
